The Giambino

By neilkeefe

It’s time Jason Giambi was removed from the Yankees lineup and the roster all together. It is clear that the Giambino is nowhere near being capable of playing everyday in the majors anymore and through 20 games this season it is has been embarrassing to watch.

Hitting in the middle of the Yankees lineup, Jason has managed to drive in 5 runs with a .109 average. He has 5 hits on the season and 3 of them are against Mike Timlin.

Jason has played in 15 games and has totaled 5 hits. He is currently getting outhit by Jose Molina (11 games, 12 hits), Chad Moeller (6 games, 7 hits), and Morgan Ensberg (6 games, 6 hits).

Currently Jason is making $4,685,714.20 per hit as he tries to get off the interstate with his average and do something worthwhile with the bat. His inability to use all fields is flat out disgusting to watch day in and day out and it’s about time Brian Cashman put him on the 60-day DL with a mysterious problem and let Jason go quietly.

Otherwise Cash can pull a J.P. Ricciardi and let the Giambino go the way Frank Thomas got the boot from the Jays on Saturday.

Sure the Yankees would be eating $23,428,571 compared to the Jays’ $12,560,000 invested in Thomas, but here is a comparison of the two through April 20th.

Jason Giambi
5/46 (.109), 6 R, 2 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 11 BB, 10 K, .288 OBP

Frank Thomas
10/60 (.167), 7 R, 1 2B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 11 BB, 13 K, .306 OBP

Funny Jason still has an everyday job and the Big Hurt is unemployed.
